Baby boomer health concern issues have been all over the news in the recent years. Around 28 percent of the population in the USA is entering their golden years. Would baby boomers put a tremendous burden on Medicare? According to recent research, the obesity rate among baby boomers jumped from 31 percent in 1994 to 42 percent in 2006; it continues to rise. Furthermore, the population over 60 is facing the great risk of developing arthritis and related conditions.
Baby boomer health and the calculation of future cost of health care prompt the health care providers to pay close attention to prevent the diseases and educate the public. The major concern for baby boomers is a cost of the health care and access to the medical providers. Stress was mentioned as the important factor of developing the disorders such as diabetes, heart problems and sleep disorder. The older adults were reported not having a sufficient health insurance or no insurance at all.
On another hand, more and more baby boomers are establishing healthier eating habits and include more exercise in the daily routine. Baby boomers are turning to low-fat diets, cutting calories and getting more active than ever before. Baby boomers starting to take a fundamental change in their lifestyle to setback oncoming aging. While baby boomers cannot stop the aging process, there are serious steps they can take to delay the progression. There is a great amount of evidence that baby boomers will live longer and have better health than their parents.
